Daryl Edwards is the founder and company director of Prestige Building and Brickwork Ltd, a building company based at Hillstead Farm in Great Shelford and working across Cambridge and Cambridgeshire. He is a bricklayer by trade with twenty years in the construction industry, and he leads a team of twelve on extensions, new builds, loft conversions, refurbishments, brickwork and property maintenance.
Background
Daryl started on site as a hod carrier, completed a bricklaying apprenticeship at college and worked his way up to bricklayer before running his own jobs. Over twenty years he has built everything from small domestic extensions to multi-million-pound houses, and that time on the tools shapes how Prestige plans, prices and runs a project today: the scope and price are agreed in writing before work starts, and every job has a clear point of contact.
He founded Prestige in 2022 as a brickwork company. It grew into a full building company as customers asked the team to take on more of their projects, and it now builds extensions, new homes and loft conversions and carries out whole-house refurbishments and property maintenance, alongside the brickwork and repointing it started with. Prestige is a CHAS-accredited contractor.
What Daryl does on a project
Daryl carries out the first site visit and prepares the quotation, so the person who priced the job is the person responsible for delivering it. During the build he works alongside Prestige’s project manager to set out the programme, coordinate the trades and the structural engineer, and keep the customer informed.
